The Alliance projects include most industry sectors. A sample includes:
- Agriculture and Food Security
- Alternative Energy: Biofuel, Solar, Wind, Geothermal, etc.
- Infrastructure Rehabilitation and Development
- Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Management
- Water and Sanitation
- Education and Training
- Environmental Sustainability and Biodiversity
- Information and Communication Technology
Most projects range from $50 million to $500 million. Many projects include several subprojects in a particular community, such as a project that includes agriculture, irrigation, construction of processing and storage facilities, road construction and training.
All primary projects must be commercially viable to ensure that funding can be secured without requiring a direct cash reimbursement from the project client. The Alliance helps project clients determine and design commercially viable solutions.
In addition to the main project, every project includes an extra 10% set-aside amount for other community needs that contribute to cultural and social enhancement, but which could not be supported through commercial viable projects. This makes available various community-identified projects and activities through the support of the Community Partnership Center program, through the Community Partnership Center Foundation (CPCF).
